David B. Green was raised in Lake Charles, Louisiana, where he graduated from Barbe High School in 1981. David is a graduate of McNeese State University and has a strong background in law enforcement and criminal law. He served as a deputy sheriff with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office for nine years, seven of which he worked as a detective handling narcotics, vice and asset forfeiture cases. David earned his law degree in 1998 and has worked as an attorney since then in the areas of civil litigation and criminal law and as both a prosecutor and criminal defense lawyer. He served as an Assistant District Attorney in Harris County, Texas, and then in Calcasieu Parish. While at the Calcasieu Parish District Attorney's Office, David was appointed by District Attorney John DeRosier as the prosecuting attorney for the Combined Anti-Drug Task Force (CAT) in Calcasieu Parish.

David is a criminal law instructor at McNeese and also provides training for the McNeese Forensic Chemistry course. He serves as the legal instructor for the (Crisis Intervention Training) CIT program, which is a collaborative educational effort with area law enforcement, healthcare providers and mental health organizations. David is also an instructor at the Calcasieu Parish Regional Training Academy where he teaches police officers and sheriff's deputies various aspects of law, including criminal law and procedure, and search & seizure law.

David joined The Hanchey Law Firm in September of 2008. He is one of only a few attorneys in the region with both a prosecutorial and a law enforcement background. He is licensed to practice in Louisiana and Texas and has practiced extensively in both state and federal courts. David is a member of the Southwest Louisiana Bar Association, the Louisiana and Texas State Bar Associations, and the Louisiana Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. David's practice concentrates on criminal law, in addition to personal injury and wrongful death, general civil litigation, and social security disability.

David is active in various civic and volunteer activities, and has been involved as a youth sports coach for his children's football, baseball, basketball, and soccer teams. David is married to the former Zina Osment. They have three children, Andrew, Sam, and Grace.
